At this critical stage in the world in which terrorism has became a multi billion dollar industry rampant in various continents, there is a need for an analysis of why and how capitalism has been at the root of the normalization of terror in the human hemisphere.
As we know, history is the key that unlocks the truth of the root causes of our problems. When you look at the act of terrorism, it connects to an instinct that propagates violence and violence is behind the use and abuse of power by a minority.
The act of terrorism as a means to generate more wealth emanated from the system of slavery which bestows mystical divine authority to the slave owners who subjugated the freedom of the slaves. The slavery system in Europe through Roman empire imperialism introduced the act of terror through colonization and invasion of neighbor city-states and kingdoms in order to control the wealth in the land of the colonized. After the fall of the Roman empire, the western Bloc of Europe brought terrorism as a norm into the rest of the world.
Europeans demonstrated terrorism to rule the world and through the act of colonization and the pathology of imperialism, terror had become a means to acquire wealth. Slavery is an act of terrorism, likewise feudalism, and capitalism, which is the foundation of the economic structure of today’s world. The capitalized system of economics has modernised labour into a commodity and labourers are now tied to the machineries of the industrialists on low wages & salaries. The capitalist elements in every country had used the scarcity of jobs to determine the price of labour for them to make more profits and they fixed low wages & salaries for the labourers since they don’t have alternative jobs. In actual sense, the capitalists had weaponized the economic means of survival to their own advantage against the majority, which is an act of terrorism.
Even in the political domain, politicians have played numerous roles in dispensing terror in a particular region in order to accumulate wealth to their personal pockets. The privatization of contracted military and expansion of private production of arsenals has indeed made terrorism a billion or even trillion dollar investment for the capitalists. In Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, we’ve seen many times how the so called world powers infringed on foreign soil, bombarding and terrorizing those who are resisting the multinationals and oppressive governments which are centered on exploiting the masses for profit making. The resistance of the oppressed is then said to be an act of terrorism whereas the hegemony of the so called world powers stealing from the natural resources of the people using the military to safeguard the interests of the multinationals and indigenous colonized ruling class is seen as a defence for democratic rule and free enterprises. The investment by the capitalists in the military has to be recouped for them by the state or government which represents their interests. It does this through endless war and terror.
At a level of profit making for the indigenous ruling class, we’ve seen how the ruling class of some countries (even in Nigeria) sponsor terrorist organizations behind closed doors to cause chaos and inflict fear in people. And through that, the justification of a large military budget won’t be unchecked by the people. Whereas they fail to spend on the health sector and other vital social amenities which are leading to the deaths and deprivation of millions. The government ruling on behalf of a tiny minority is always happy to spend on fighting wars but never on providing things for people or on avoiding actions that will prevent war in the first place.
The capitalistic interest of the few is overriding the welfare of the majority. Capitalism has to be revolted against, not just because it is exploiting human beings for profit but for peace in the world and for the safety of the earth. The earth is also simply seen as a means for the capitalists to get richer which is putting the world in jeopardy through the height of climate change. We need to speak, act and defend against the injustice orchestrated for the interests of few. We must ensure the stability of humanity in Africa through a socialist-pan Africanism in the interest of the exploited masses of Africa and the world at large. Failure to do that gives us simply a violent world where terror is permanently unleashed on the people. IRE
